Given the importance of foreign-language, intercultural-communication, and leadership skills in the global marketplace, The Wandering Scholar’s mission is to make international travel and learning opportunities accessible to low-income high school students.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model to international education, we take a holistic and individualized approach to putting students on the path to global citizenship. Our program consists of several features, designed to:

• work closely with mentoring programs and other organizations to identify potential scholars

• match students with international opportunities through established travel partners

• provide financial assistance and budget planning

• connect scholars with travel mentors

• organize pre-departure workshops, and

• create formal opportunities for scholars to share their experiences before, during, and after their journeys
