Our mission

The Wandering Scholar was founded in 2009 to make international travel and learning opportunities accessible to exceptional high schoolers from underrepresented and low-income backgrounds.

We are more than just a travel scholarship.

Our innovative fellowship combines travel with pre- and post-trip programming, equipping participants with the skills to become engaged, globally competent citizens by:

1. expanding their perspectives and ability to recognize those of others;

2. building their capacity for resilience and empathy; and

3. developing a roadmap for success beyond high school.
